Meet Zara Durani,

I got married in December 2019 (in retrospect, thank god!). In the run up to the wedding there was many unknowns and quite a few plot twists, but the one thing I had been certain of (since the time I played dress-up bride with my sister as a child...), was that I wanted my Barat dress red. Simple, traditional, beautiful red.

My mother and I set out from Peshawar, and towards the close of a four day 'mission' in Lahore - having visited all the big names (and then some) were at our wits (and hopes) end when we went to our last appointment in Gulberg - Fahad Hussayn. After days of having everyone look at me oddly for wanting a red bridal and trying to convince me that it wasn't 'the style' these days - that late evening appointment with Fahad H. was like a prayer come true. He picked up immediately and was perhaps even more excited than me about creating a red bridal look. At the time he was working on a new red couture piece (no sample). His ask though, was that we trust him and let his genius flow.

Now I'm definitely an overthinker/analyser - and if anything, my mother is more. But in that moment, surrounded by his glorious pieces and fine work, and hearing him speak - we were sold. We got a second appointment for the morning after. Fahad drew me a quick sketch in that meeting (attached), and he showed us some paper stencils of his upcoming design and that was it - we left him to it. My only request was that I wanted a 'happy' outfit - and vague though that instruction seemed, Fahad understood and followed to a tee. The final dress was red, but also beautifully embroidered in golds, and full of multicoloured thread work and details (flowers, palms, a fountain scene, a pulpet, cherry blossoms, geometric designs... and cats and initials to personalise!). It fit perfectly and I loved wearing it. The look was just as we had hoped - I got SO many compliments that day and the compliments have continued till date from the most random quarters (and aunties).

At the end of the day, that's what meaningful and good-hearted work is all about - Fahad made me feel special in the moment and his work still brings me perfect joy and satisfaction to date. I can only thank my luck we chose him (and he us!)

May the force be with you!

Xx

Zara

Over the more than 20 years we have dressed countless red brides all over the world,

May in a shade of red that it has become so closely associated with our brand that is called ‘FahadHussaynRed’

We had only one meeting with Zara, our gorgeous beautiful bride. We knew what exactly she wants as she was super happy and excited for the jora, you can tell from her face. A bridal Jora is always very special in everyone’s life and pass on generations to generations so it has to be way more special with the touch of your personality.

We love cooperating her super charming and happy personality with the blend of our signature style with rich hand embroideries and quintessential handcrafted embellishments and zardozi work. We customised two cats on the pallu of the dupatta as she is a cat lover. So are we :).

We loved to be a part of your journey, thanks for choosing us!

We wish you all the very best for future and all the happiness of this world.

Keep on shining bright ✨

With lots of love and care,

Team fahad hussayn
